1982年
· Lars Ulrich和James Hetfield组建Metallica。
· Dave Mustaine离开Panic（惊恐）并加盟Metallica。
· Ron McGovney加入Metallica担任贝司手。
· 三月，Metallica在Anaheim 的Radio City进行了第一场演出。
· 三月，Metallica开始为著名的英国重金属乐队Saxon的"Denim and Leather"巡演进行暖场演出。
· 四月，Brad Parker受聘为Metallica的第二任吉他手，但他仅仅进行了一场演出就离开了乐队。
